My school finals are next week- hallelujah! After next Thursday I will be free as a bird for the whole summer(unless you count my job...) It has been so beautiful in Utah as of late I can't wait to spend lots of time outside playing! I just got a new calling to be the 3rd year girls camp certification leader which I am kind of freaking out about. We are having a meeting tomorrow morning and I am supposed to play a get to know you game with my YCL's, any ideas?! It should be an adventure trying to get everything together for Camp, I am sure I will learn a lot. And please don't worry that I have to scout out a 5 mile hike for the third years to go on, they seriously must not know who they are dealing with..... Where does one even begin to "scout out" a 5 mile hike to take a bunch of third year girls on. I wish I would have taken notes all those years I was in girls camp- I really LOVED girls camp when I went so I just hope that the girls will have as great of an experience as I did.

SO....about a year ago I took up bike riding. Z and I would cruise all around Salem, and I thought I was getting pretty good. Z grew up riding his bike all over and so he knows how to do a lot of fancy things like jump the curb, which for me is mostly impossible. Regardless of my curb jumping skills I was feeling pretty confident in my abilities so one day as I was leaving my sister-in-law Jamie's house I decide I am going to talk on my cell phone WHILE riding my bike- worst decision ever. I totally crashed, went flying through the air while getting tangled up in my bike. The best part is that when I finally pulled myself up off the asphalt all of these little neighborhood kids are out in their yards are laughing hysterically at me. So embarrassing, I wanted to die. The second best part was that I destroyed my phone. I did not want to pay $300 dollars (what a joke!) to replace my phone mid contract so I went to Wal-Mart and bought the $15 go phone. It is not anything special but it gets the job done for me. Well earlier this week, said phone decides not to work for three days, THREE DAYS! Have you ever gone without your phone for three days? I know I am sounding dramatic here, but it was seriously hard. There were SO many things I couldn't do; Text Google for addresses and phone numbers, call in to the local radio station to win free Taylor Swift concert tickets, pass my half hour drive to work by chatting with someone, check my voicemail, cal my classmates for help on school assignments, call Zachary to make sure he was going to be at the office for my surprise lunch visit, etc. I found myself constantly worrying that I was going to get stranded along the side of a deserted road and have no way to contact anyone. The sad thing is that I NEVER drive on deserted roads....why was I so worried I would end up stranded on one? After the three days were up and my phone decided to start working again I felt like being without a phone wasn't so bad. It was maybe even kind of nice. I still just don't get how people managed without cell phones for so long. I ask my Mom that question all the time, she says they just had to plan. Plan? What? I prefer to make them(plans) up as I go. So don't expect me to give up my cell phone, it may not be a necessity, but I love it.

Glad your phone is working again. The weather HAS been so nice lately!! Perfect for BBQ's and jogging.
I did the same thing on my mountain bike-minus the cell phone. I just totally flew over the handlebars from braking too hard. It's so embarrasing. About your hike.. there's this really good book that I've seen that has hikes around Utah. They are catagorized by levels of intensity, distance, scenic hikes, waterfall hikes, etc. I think you can get it at any bookstore. You should check that out for the hike you need to come up with.
Ouch. I, too, was once a victim of the talking-on-cell-phone-while-riding-a-bike combo. However, I wasn't going very fast, luckily. Sorry about your phone and your bike and you--hope you're okay. I think this might be a little late, but for the get to know you game, you could do the get to know you BINGO (find someone who 1) has lived in another state, 2) has the same favorite color, 3) has one sister, etc.) That's always the only one I can remember, but you can look them up online if you google "icebreakers" or "get to know you games," I think. I looked them up for my classes earlier this year, too. Hope it went okay. I think you'd be a WAY fun camp leader! :) Good luck!
Funny story! I am sorry I couldn't visit. I wanted to see you and Nat but it was a quick visit that with the fam. I miss you girls a lot and I want to plan a trip to hang out this summer for sure! I am bored now that I have no school.
HEY I AM MAKING MY BLOG PRIVATE SO SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS TO DKSTREETT@GMAIL.COM SO I CAN ADD YOU. THANKS!
Ha that sucks! I haven't crashed my bike in a couple years. The last time I did the trail was wet and I told the guy I was with to "be careful around that turn-it's a doozy!" .. only to go sliding across the pavement. I still have scars from it!!!
A five mile hike in Utah? You could do Timpanogas, or go up Provo Canyon, or Sun Valley or whatever that ski resort is near Provo, they have a waterfall you can hike to. The water is pure enough you can drink out of it! I'm going to girls camp too! I'm so excited.
Ha, you crack me up! Great story ~ if it makes u feel any better, I crashed hard core on a bike outside Taco Time WITHOUT talking on a cell phone. :) haha. You guys have been busy with traveling lately! It looks like you guys have been having tons of fun ~ such a cute couple. :) Good luck with the new calling! I loved Girl's Camp too and I think u will do so great with the girls!
